But the 6-6, 260-pound junior attackman is drawing much of the attention leading to the Terrapins' visit Sunday to seventh-seeded Notre Dame (15-0) for a first-round game in the NCAA tournament. That's because before this season Yeatman was a starter in lacrosse for Irish, earning all-conference honors as a freshman in 2007 after leading them in points (46) and assists (25). He left South Bend, Ind., however, after suspensions cost him all of the 2008 lacrosse season and half of the football season. Those suspensions came in the wake of alcohol-related arrests. Yeatman has played in 12 of the 15 games this season for the Terps (9-6), tallying 26 points. He declined to speak to the news media this week but did release a statement through the school's sports information department. "Some of my best friends in life are on the Notre Dame lacrosse team, and I have tremendous respect for the coaches and staff at Notre Dame," the statement said.
